Is intelligence needed for evolution?

Probably not. But a lot of people believe that some form of intelligence is needed to start and/or to drive evolution. And if there was no intelligence, as the neo-Darwinists believe, then there was some enigmatic force that could drive evolution. If something could be called an evolution driving force, then it is the "contra-Darwinistic" force. It is present in all higher forms of life. More about this can be found in the blog post "Evolution and intelligence".
